2025 SPCC Art Auction
Southpark Christian Church invites you to browse the collection of works made possible by the generous donations of art by Carol and Gary Aljets. The auction will take place on October 4 from 3-5 pm, where all pieces will be available.

Please use the orange Registration button to create a checklist as you browse. Pieces that you select during your registration will be brought to the auction so they may be examined in person.

SouthPark Christian Church's vision is to be a community center through spirit-driven outreach. All proceeds from the auction will go towards upkeep of the church to continue serving the community at full capacity, and expand our goal to share the love of God.

About The Collection
Carol & Gary Aljets
I developed an interest in art and architecture after taking a course on these subjects in college. After college, I joined the US Navy and got stationed in Naples, Italy, where I got the opportunity to see some of the historic objects I had been studying. I started collecting artwork, especially since architecture would have been more difficult. With the income of a low enlisted rate, I purchased my first piece for the amazing cost of $8, yes eight dollars. It is still one of my favorite pieces.
After Carol and I got married, I made the mistake (?) of getting her interested in art collecting. I say mistake, with a smile, as she became a more avid collector than I but we did feed each other’s love of art. Over the almost 53 years we were married; we collected several more pieces of art. We learned early that with our income we purchased what we liked as we could not have afforded pieces that would have been considered investment pieces. We purchased at art galleries, in shops that sold art from local artists, art auctions and wherever we found something of interest. A real bonus was our meeting several of the artists we collected, visiting with them and learning of the wonderful things they did for those less fortunate. Some of those we met included Peter Max, Alexandre Renoir, Alfred Gockel, Peter Nixon, Dominic Pangborn, Autumn DeForest, etc, etc.
Before Carol passed, we had agreed to provide an auction with several artworks with the proceeds going to the church. So, as you review these pieces and have any questions, feel free to ask me. I will gladly share with you whatever I remember but bear in mind that I am far from an art expert.
